Putting

Putting, we all struggle with it. Reading greens, judging speed, knowing distances. Putting is a game in itself. Putting is so hard it could break away from golf and become it's own sport. Putting wins and loses championship's gives you a lower and higher score. People always talk about training aids tweaking there swings. Well if you really want to lower your score, start getting out to the practice green and work on your putting. If you can control your putting with consistency you will become a much better golfer. I always say practice the club you use the most, your putter.

Rickie Fowler wins first tournament as a pro.

Former Oklahoma state golfer Rickie Fowler won his first tournament as a professional last week at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club. Rickie's first win wasn't any big name tournament like the masters or the players. But it was certainly a win to be proud of. Rickie came in against a very skilled oponent, Rory Mcilroy. Rory Mcilroy former winner of the U.S. Open was looking to add another title to his name in the Kolon Korea Open. With the golf season winding down there is not much left to the golf season until the president's cup. Which begins in the 2nd week in November. That is the last major tournament for this year, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to win a few smaller tournaments to boost your confidence.
That must of been what most golfers had in mind about coming into this tournament. But Rickie had nothing to worry about pulling this one out over Rory. With a final score of -16 under, -3 under in the final round, Rickie had a 6 stroke cushion over Mcilroy to pull this one out. This is Rickie's first win since his college days at oklahoma state. While Kim-Ween Meen finished 3rd in the tournament behind Rory, the events defending champion Y.E. Yang finished in 4th place with a final round score of 279 behind Fowler's 268. Not only did Rickie win the tournament he tied the course record with a 63 on saturday, to pull 4 shots ahead of Yang and never looked back. "It was alot of fun. I played well early on in the final round and then I was comfortable over the last few holes. Overall, I enjoyed the whole weekend." Fowler said. "It Feels great to have the first win. I had good control of my ball, I drove well, and I made some putts."

Tiger back in action

Tiger Woods is finally back in action ever since he missed the cut at the PGA Championship. Tiger Woods competed this week in the Fry's.com championship. I myself watched a little bit of the tournament, and you can tell that his swing has changed since the PGA Championship a few months ago. His swing still needs work from missing the fairway and greens multiple times through the weekend. Although Tigers first round wasn't solid at all shooting 3 over 73. He responded with back to back to back 68's through the final three rounds. Tiger finished the tournament at -7 under, 10 off the lead from Bryce Molder. But Tiger can look to the future for next season. Learning from his mistakes this year, he can hopefully bounce back for the next pga tour season.

Bill Haas wins Tour Championship

Bill Haas won the tour championship....barely. Haas win was truly earned as he battled Hunter Mahan through 3 long playoff holes that were the harder holes on the course. His shot on 17 out of the water saved him from elimination of Hunter Mahan. What started the crazy hole for Haas was poor club selection off the tee. Haas who in past rounds and shots hasn't had luck hitting the fairway with his driver, but he decided to go for it and suffered for it. Hitting out of the fairway bunker cost him dearly by putting him in the water, but managed to save himself by stopping a pitch shot 5 ft from the hole. If Haas had not made that incredible water shot he wouldn't have that trophy in his trophy case right now. Hunter fought a good battle but one slip up with his bunker shot on 18 cost him the tournament. Haas made many rescue shots like on the 1st playoff hole on 18 kept him in the playoff with Hunter. Both pulled off crazy shots, but Haas managed to pull this one out. The pressure got to Hunter on the bunker on 18, the blown bunker shot costed hunter the tournament. Hunter's short game has never been his strong suit, and it showed in the playoff with Haas.

Tour Championship 2nd Round

In the second round of the Tour Championship, Jason Day is currently leading the field at -6 under par. He is currently on number six and having a terrific round at -3 under for the day. But Jason is not the only one having a good round. There is a bundle of players at the top like hunter mahan, keegan bradely, and Bubba Watson who is currently 4 under for the day, -3 under for the tournament. On the other hand Keegan Bradely who shot a 64 at East Lake is struggling today with a +1 today. Meanwhile Dustin Johnson ranked second in the Fedex Cup, is having some struggles in the second round. After a first round of 70 has dug himself a hole of +2 through 13 holes. Dustin was one of the favored to win going into this tournament but has not shown any stand out performance. If Dustin or anyone wants a chance at this tournament they need to catch Jason Day. Jason is tied at -5 under par. Jason has played impressively through both round and continues to do well. Jason has had many runs like this in the past. Sometimes he holds them, other times he breaks down in either the 3rd or 4th round. He will half to battle with K.J. Choi and Keegan Bradely through the rest of the second round, and the third and fourth rounds.
