Fundamentals

Every golf swing is different. But in every golf swing there are things you have to do to hit the ball well. The first thing that's necessary to have a good golf swing is keeping your head down, ask anyone they'll tell you that this it a big part of the golf swing. A good drill to not look up is you get someone to take something and hold it against your head. It can be a golf club, stick, a broken shaft anything and just hold it against your head while your swinging the club. In fact web simpson used this with his golf instructor because he was struggling with the same thing.
The second thing is weight transition this is in every golf swing. Weight transition helps you hit through the ball. Shown in the picture, Tiger Woods is shifting his weight to hit through the golf ball properly. To shift properly in the back-swing keep your weight on the inside of your right foot. Then when you start the down swing start shifting your weight to your left side to hit through it.
Here's a video of Anthony Kim's swing to help you understand a good golf swing.

Notice how the club is parallel to the ground at the top of the back swing. Also note that his left arm is straight and he's gotten a good full shoulder turn. Caution, people tend to sway because they can't keep their weight on the inside of their right foot on the back-swing. Turning your shoulders help keep you stable. A good drill is to cross your arms across your chest and just practice turning your shoulders. This will help you fell what a good shoulder turn feels like.

The third Fundemental is a straight left arm, and right elbow. In the backswing, it's important to keep your left arm straight. As you can see in the video, Anthony Kim has his left arm straight in the backswing. Keeping your left arm straight helps you gain power and tork. Think of a rubber band, when you stretch it, it only strectches so far before it won't let you stretch it anymore. Same thing with your left arm. You can only stretch it so far before you can't stretch it any further. This helps you not swing past parrellel and keep the club on plain.

Your right elbow should be tucked in, in the backswing.

Notice his elbow is tucked in properly, and that line is the line the club should be traveling from his original set up position.
